Closet Cleaning aka Organizing Part I

Here's the first step on the "summer to do list" - Organize closet and go through wardrobe. I did mine on Friday and Q did his side today. We got rid of a lot of stuff.

I couldn't believe how many clothes I have (and how few fit right now)...

Marbles is always willing to help.

I ended up hanging everything that currently fits me in the closet.

Everything else ended up in the dresser drawers or in this bin.
We need to find another bin for the clothes Q wants to put aside at the moment and then we'll have nice clear closet shelves. Not sure what we'll move to that space but it will have to help clear clutter elsewhere. Hopefully "organize crafting stuff" (number 2 on the summer to do list) will free up a bin for Q on Monday and give ideas about what can be kept out of the way in this closet.

I never seem to get tired of taking pictures of my kitchen counters with all the jars.
And, in this case, the muffins. They were the Betty Crocker oatmeal raisin muffin recipe but I used whole wheat flour instead of white, honey instead of sugar, and put a few frozen blueberries into each one instead of raisins. So, they're now Liz's Honey Oatmeal Bluberry Muffins? I doubt Betty would recognize them as hers. They were delicious.

Been a while...

Hello to anyone who checks this blog. It's been a while since I posted - first Christmas came and then that was shortly followed by morning sickness. I'm pregnant! I'm now at 11 weeks (due date is August 28) and so far I've been exhausted and nauseous for most of the time, leaving little inspiration for blogging. I think I may finally be turning the corner, so, here's hoping.

Below is a little photo tour of the last couple of months. :)

Reversible knit earflap hat for my 6 month old nephew

Pajama pants for the same nephew (I still need to get a pic of Q in the shirt I made him using the robot fabric as accents. I had to make him something with it, since the robot fabric was originally bought for him!)

Handmade journal for my dad. This was the second book I've ever made. It's also the first one I made using fabric for the cover. (Note: Be careful to not stretch the fabric at all when you're gluing it to the davey board because it will shrink as it dries. I think it's only noticeable enough on this book to bother other bookbinders and me though.)

Binky in a box on Christmas Day

Marbles asserting his bossy, brazen kittenness. None of our cats are normal but he's the weirdest yet.

I made egg drop soup for the first time (before morning sickness hit) and it turned out really well.

Newest Family Member

After we got back from Colorado we put in an adoption application for one of the kittens we had fostered for 2 months over the summer. Marbles is now part of the family. While we had him, he developed a limp which was eventually identified as femoral head necrosis. Greenhill Humane decided to operate because he is such a delightful cat. He still limps but it doesn't seem to slow him down.

The only side effect seems to be that he is pretty willing to be in whatever position he happens to land in or get put in. This includes being snuggled like a teddy bear.

Clearly, he is not easily upset and has a huge purr.

He also loves being between us. The picture was taken from above; my red shirt and black pants are on the left, Q's brown shirt and jeans are on the right.

Digit and Isabel are adjusting quite well to a spunky new kitten. He's kept well-groomed by the fastidious Digit and he gets plenty of exercise as he and Isabel race through the house. I'm sure there will be documentation of this photogenic kitten quite often from here on out.
